Knit A Square

Knit-a-square is a KasCare program.  Join our community of more than 3,000 people from 35 countries around the world, who lovingly knit or crochet 8” squares to make hand-made blankets. These blankets comfort and warm AIDS orphans and abandoned children who live in South Africa.  Join in our monthly challenges and make knitted hats, pullovers and vests too.

Volunteers

Help make a difference in an AIDS orphan's life

Looking for a creative outlet? Want to be a part of a global network? Enjoy working towards creating change? Have a desire to help orphaned and abandoned children? Volunteer with KasCare today!

Volunteer International

When we tell people that in under two years KasCare attracted a member base of more than 5,000  from 40 countries people are stunned.

You can join them simply by knitting squares and sending them to KasCare South Africa. There, they are sewn into blankets and distributed to the AIDS orphans in the slums and shack settlements.

If you are a teacher or parent, why not introduce the KasKids™ program to your school, scouting group, home educated community and broader community.  See our KasKids™ page for information on the amazing work parents, teachers and students around the world are doing to help the orphans

Your act of volunteering will help keep these children warm and will raise vital awareness of their plight.

Volunteer South Africa

Our South African operation is the engine room of our organisation.
Here, volunteers collect, sort, package and bundle squares.  They record data and some participate in blanket distributions.

With up to 2,000 squares arriving a week, there is a huge amount of work to do. And it is important work. Without our South African volunteers we would not be able to continue to encourage the groundswell of awareness and commitment that we are achieving.

Most importantly, we would not be able to provide lovingly hand-made blankets to orphans and abandoned babies.

We are reminded, whenever we distribute to these children, that this is not an insignificant gift. Too often we observe that these blankets are one of the only things, aside from a few scraps of clothes, that truly belongs to the child.

How can you help?

Contact us today to participate in unwrapping, sorting, bundling and packing. Our team is great fun, you’re guaranteed to have a laugh while you work.

Volunteer in Australia

KasCare Australia is the administrative arm of the organisation. The team in Australia is responsible for driving membership, fundraising, PR, media, events, running the KasKids program and securing more traffic to our websites.

How can you help?

Are you a PR professional or media expert? Why not volunteer some of your expertise to help grow our organisation? We have no end of incredible stories, both heart-warming and heart-wrenching alike, to disseminate. Your talents could mean the difference between a few thousand or hundreds of thousands people knowing about the AIDS orphans.

Are you a web developer or graphic designer? Work with our team to help maintain and grow our dynamic websites. Be a part of producing the collateral that supports our cause.

Experienced in fundraising? Throw your fundraising knowledge behind some of our campaigns. It's amazing what a small amount of time and a fresh perspective can achieve.
